Dual Champion Nampa FCh, JOR

Neuropathy Clear / Normal

Nampa was the fourth puppy to be born in his litter and the first to finish his breed ring championship at the tender age of 15 months!  He accomplished this by winning back to back 5 point majors at the Rio Grande Kennel Club shows in May 2008.  Adding 2 more points by winning his class at the Coronado Kennel Club shows on Sunday under judge Edna K. Martin.  And, finally, by winning a 3rd major worth 3 points on Saturday at the Valencia Valley Kennel Club shows in October under judge Katie Gammel.  His only other show weekend was at the Greyhound Club of America's Western Specialty in July.  There, he won his class every day.  This big, gangly greyhound earned his championship in 4 show weekends!

Nampa has been out on the lure coursing field, getting his first points in July at 13 months of age, by finishing 3rd to a 5 point major at the Greyhound Club of America's Western Specialty lure course.  Not bad for a big, gangly, 13 month old puppy.  Three months later, he took more AKC lure coursing points by finishing 2nd to a major, which was won by his sister, Glory.  He's a nice running dog. Nampa currently has 13 points and 1 major towards his AKC field championship.  He only needs a majro to become a dual champion.  We expect him to finish that title soon.

In addition to AKC coursing points, Nampa qualified to run in the ASFA Region 3 Regional by earning 6 points in his first ASFA trial the day before.  In the Regional, he finished 3rd, picking up another 12 points.  Since that November 2008 trial, he picked up a win in March 2009, finished 2nd at the 2009 ASFA International Invitational and 4th both days of the Grand National in Colorado to finish his ASFA field championship, pending confirmation.

In his racing events, in his first & only NOTRA trial, he finished 2nd to his brother, Banner, picking up a JOR leg and he has competed in LGRA.

Laurel Drew co-owns Nampa.  He reminds her a great deal of her dog, Brinnie (Ch El-Aur Remember Royaltan), who is Nampa's grand-uncle.  He reminds me of my old dog, BJ (Dual Ch El-Aur Royal Dragon FCh), when he was this same age.  When he lure courses, he wears BJ's old coursing blankets.  I keep telling him, "Boy...  you have a big blanket to fill."

Laurel keeps trying to abscond with Nampa and I keep telling her, she doesn't need another dog.  That's what she told me, two times now, as she beat me out on purchasing a puppy!  Ah ha!  The tables are turned!!!

Laurel tagged this brindle boy with the name, Nampa, when he was just days old.  She tells me that there was a Shoshone chief named Nampa and that it means "Big Feet".  Well, this boy does have that!  When he was born, his feet were the size of dimes!  He has grown into them too.  Now, they are about 3-4" long from the front of the toes to the end of the heel pad.  Big...  big....  feet!
