Wally Dog aka The Wallinator
Wally was my dog. He was my buddy. Wally was a mutt, a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a hound of some sort. The Aussie Shepherd showed in his coloring, blue merle, and blue eyes. However, he had hound ears and, when a rabbit showed itself, Wally didn't know whether to herd it or to chase it. We went to a greyhound reunion held in Abilene, KS. Wally came along. At the reunion, the only rabbit fatality was due to Wally. He was offleash on NGA grounds and a cottontail showed itself. He took off after the cottontail, woofing. The rabbit ducked into a draining pipe. Wally looked into the pipe and saw the rabbit heading to the other end. He quickly ran to the other end of the pipe and, when the rabbit emerged, he tagged it. He got the bunny! Wally was about 11 years old then. He died 2 years later. I miss my Wallinator. |
